Whoever said Nigerian hip hop is dead is in for a rude awakening. 100 Crowns Entertainment (Nigeria’s first all hip hop record label) and Chocolate City have put together a one of a kind of event for hip hop lovers called The Coronation.
He tells us that The Coronation will be a platform for rappers (both prominent and upcoming) to express themselves without restrictions, have their album listening sessions and partner with them for future events. AQ makes reference to the fact that a lot of hip hop artists end up becoming plain recording artists because there are not enough platforms that promotes rappers and for this reason, The Coronation was birthed.
In 2015, AQ put together a successful all hip hop concert. When asked why he hadn’t done another hip hop concert since then, he explains that he had to place his focus on his career as a rap artist but now that he has joined forces with Chocolate City and has a seasoned veteran in the rap game like Loose Kaynon running point with him on this event, he is sure that not only will this maiden event of The Coronation be epic but over time, it will become one of the biggest events in the Nigerian Music Industry.
Some of the hip hop acts lined up for this event include Oladips, Paybac, Blaqbones, Street Billionaires, Sossick, Slay Velli, Dark Poet, Kanno, AT Merari, Payper Corleone and Otega. This event will take place on the 28th of April at the Freedom Park Amphitheater and will begin by 7pm.
Tickets for the event go for one thousand naira and will be sold at the venue.
If you’re a real fan of hip hop and want to help the culture grow in Nigeria, then this event is for you.
